Uh-huh! We turn six and Mommy said that our cousins will get to come over to celebrate. [And when she returns home, she will have no idea that her life will go to hell in just a few days time.]

So you and your brother are twins...

It must be nice, having such a big family.

Uh-huh, they're all a lot bigger and live kinda far, but they play with us anyway. So I don't usually feel lonely.

...That's good. But...you do feel lonely sometimes?

[They've arrived at the flower shop by now, and he pauses in front of it. He really hopes Raine isn't the one watching the shop this afternoon.]

Well... [She falls silent, chewing on her lower lip just a little as she gazes at the front of the flower shop. While she loves her family very much, there was undeniably something about her or them that makes her feel lonely sometimes.]

Sometimes I do, it feels like they're all different from me?

[All of them...? But what about...] Even your brother?

[Leading her into the shop now - luckily, there's no one in sight just yet. Let's keep it that way. At least he doesn't feel any presence of mana.]

Um... [She takes a quick look around first, trying to not get too excited over the vast amount of flowers before she loses control and answers Mithos' question. She lowers her voice into a whisper, a determined look in her eyes.]

Don't tell anyone, but he's a pureblood. Mommy said I'm supposed to be, too, but it's weird that I'm Le'sachi.

It's not your fault you were born that way. [The words come out immediately. Sharply, defensively, even though the person who told her that is obviously not present.]

[The sudden declaration leaves Kaori speechless, eyes wide in surprise that he would say that.]

I know it's not my fault, and Mommy and Daddy and my brother love me anyway, na? I like how I am. [Even if it meant falling ill far too frequently than would be proper for a child her age. She starts walking around tentatively, admiring all the flowers the flower shop had. She'd never seen some of these before.]

['Anyway', as if she's somehow less worthy of love because she's not a full-blooded anything. His blood boils. .....But she's young and naive and happy and he tries to keep it light, following along as she peers at the flowers.]

...That's good. [but how long until she falls into wondering what it might be like to live as something else, anything else?]

Mm! [She begins to hum again, staring at all the flowers around her with more attention than moments before. If only her mother and brother could be here to see them, she's sure they would like them, too.]

Have you ever seen so many flowers, Mithos? They're all so pretty!

[trying that smiling thing again] I guess they are. I've never seen so many different kinds in one place before.

Really? Then we have to come here more! [That means that whenever she can get away from Frey's care she's hunting you down to drag you here, Mithos.]

Maybe I can put some in your hair?

[he nods] I'd like that...

[--say what now? staring at her blankly for a bit] Sure... If you want to.

You mean it?! [Mithos. Mithos you have no idea what you've unleashed.]

[...he's already beginning to wonder what he's done.]

Of...of course. [if there wasn't hesitation in his words before, there is now. But if it will make her happy...]

Then let's look for flowers now! You have really pretty hair, Mithos! [PUUUUUUUUULLIIIIIIIIIIING.]

[...hey, wait, he may be as far-removed from any social context as anyone can be, but even he's quite sure that 'pretty' is generally reserved for girls. --And now he's being pulled along.]

...Thank you...?

Yup! [The child genuinely believes she is complimenting you, please don't burst the bubble too soon.]

You are pretty, Mithos.

[...Again, with that word. With anyone else, he would feel annoyed, perhaps insulted, but she's...trying to be nice. Um...]

Your hair is really long, and shiny and clean, and you have really pretty blue eyes. [If you want more details you might want to be more specific, Mithos.]

[Looking mildly flustered at her compliments, because....well. It's not like anyone ever tells him stuff like that.]

I meant... [oh, he feels silly] Don't you think that word is better suited for...girls? [like his sister. his sister is pretty. Isn't that how this works?]
