✿ 4th Bud [Action]

[It's been several days since the incident that confined her to the clinic, and frankly Kaori has become very tired of that place. Not only was she bored out of her mind, but merely the smell of it brought up fragmented memories of pain and fear from long ago. On top of that, it was lonely when no one visited. Sorry Vash, but she really can't take it anymore.

Therefore it makes sense that she sneak out, right?! Never mind that she is still badly bruised and sore everywhere due to damaged and sprained muscles, which makes walking very difficult. But what's some injuries to her? At the very least she can talk! Sort of... It takes some effort.

As for the destination she has in mind? Her apartment at the very top of CH4, pretty smart. Of course she probably won't get very far, and may end up resting in the flower shop instead. Feel free to intercept her anywhere along this stupid journey of sheer determination, she may or may not bite. And it may or may not take all day.]

[Okay, bad idea. He was afraid of that. Chopper backs away, lifting his hooves in a sign of relent.]

No, don't be scared! I won't do anything without your permission. If you don't want medicine you don't have to take it, I promise. But it's going to hurt more when I set your arm if you don't...I'm really sorry.

It's alright, Kaori. Chopper wouldn't do anything you don't need and I promise to stay right here the whole time. It's okay, I won't betray you. You can hold my hand the whole time.

[Small reassurances, but it manages to get her to calm down a little while her grip loosens. Even though she's still shaking she gives a soft nod, granting permission to treat her. Just without medicine.]

[He takes a long, measured breath, then gestures for her to lean back on the cot while he fetches a cloth.]

Kaori...this is going to hurt a lot. You'll need this cloth to bite down on, and I'm going to have to ask Vash to hold you steady so you don't thrash and make things worse. [He's not sure how she'll react to being told she needs to be restrained, but he's running out of options.]

I...really don't want to hurt you, so I'll ask one more time, okay? If you let me medicate you, you won't feel anything else but a prick. You'll fall asleep, then when you wake up, me and Vash will be here, and you won't hurt at all anymore. You can trust me.

[He pauses, hoping that she'll use the moment to reconsider. Then he offers a weak smile.] But it's up to you. I promised, right?

And I don't want to scare you Kaori, but I've had bones set without medicine. It hurts. A lot. But we're not going to force you to take medicine you don't want to take. We just want to make you feel better.

... Won't work. [If anything, medicine sometimes made it worse; her body structure was too different from both sides of her blood to know what would happen for sure. Countless experiences in the government labs confirmed this over and over again.]

What about the spirit healing? If we use a little just to numb the pain? Then we can set it and heal it the rest of the way.

I... [He swallows, throat dry. It's...easy in theory, but...if he overdoes it, he might end up healing the whole bone, and to fix it he'd have to break it all over again, and...]

[And there was a last time. But in honesty, Chopper didn't do the healing then, and he's been practicing Nala's magic for almost a year. He's sure he can do it...but Kaori deserves to know the outcome of failure.]

...It's possible, but...it can go wrong if I don't do it right. Are you sure you want me to try?

[... Another nod, it can't be much worse than what she already went through. If it had to be set again, they could go ahead with knocking her out somehow in order to do it. If there weren't people looking after her here she would have just let everything heal as it is instead of seeking proper care.]

[He takes up Kaori's arm, then smiles weakly at Vash.] Can you handle her bruises, then? I'll need all my concentration for this.

[Chopper closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Then he begins drawing on Nala's power - softly, like tuning a radio dial. The level of warmth flowing from his hoof starts as a trickle, then evolves into a stream, and then levels somewhere in-between. There. Hastily:] You don't have to watch. Just tell me if it hurts too much.

[It's not meant to be sharp, but there's no telling how long he can hold it. Chopper stretches out the limb and reaches for a splint.]

[The healing almost throws her off, since it feels very different from what people did back home. Not uncomfortable, just unexpected as Nala's kindness flowed in. For some reason she hadn't expected that.

In fact, it kind of makes her sleepy, so she'll be struggling not to doze off.]

[It takes Chopper a good while to break his concentration, but he eventually catches on that Kaori is comfortable enough to doze. Definitely a good sign.]

[But he's finally found the alignment. Chopper holds for several seconds, then lets Nala's power free, feeling the warmth flow from his hoof into the fracture and allowing himself a smile. There's nothing quite like it.]

[Hold...feel the swelling ease, bone knitting in seconds, and...there. Chopper cuts the power and pulls away.] There, that should do it! How does it feel?

Better... [Obviously it's not completely healed and she'd still need to take care of it while the rest heals on its own, but it's much better than it was before when it was only hastily taken care of. Have another smile, Chopper, even if she's about to fall asleep.]
