[Kaori's been thinking a lot since her last talk with Elicia, mulling over what she said, what she was forced to share. A part of her wanted wanted to believe the little girl, that the 'bad people' wouldn't hurt her here in Luceti, but as always it was hard to push aside what she saw as justified hatred in favor of that lost affection.

So today, she wanted to try a little test, just to see how the villagers responded. After all, they were 'good people,' and wanted to be her 'friends,' right? Maybe she could gather some useful information in the meantime.]

It's true that it's going to hurt if they leave. No doubt about it. It hurts a lot. But, if you make the time you had with them count, and you have fun and make a good friend, I think that pain is definitely worth it.

But the pain is only temporary. The good memories will last far longer than that.

But... what if you're not allowed to keep the memories? Remembering how much you love them, but not remembering who they are... [She's trying to keep this from getting too depressing, but the large gaps in her memories are persistent.]

Believe it or not, I come from a world where a lot of people lost their memories because of a curse. ...I wasn't affected myself, so I'm probably not the best person to say this, admittedly.

But is being alone really that much better? That brings its own set of troubles too. And well, if there's a way, you can always fight the good fight to try to get yours... or others, memories back.

[... Oh dear, was it really that obvious that she was the one who didn't remember? It's making her a little nervous.]

... No, but fighting is hard when you don't even know what to fight to get them back. But being alone is... deadly.

Yeah, without an objective it can be pretty tough to see things through. But you can always keep looking as long as you never give up.

Having friends to watch your back makes fighting much, much easier. ...Makes everyday life a lot easier too.

[Kaori likes people like those, already this is getting you on her good side.] That's a good way to think about it... And having friends does make it much easier, I don't know what I'd do if I hadn't met people concerned for my well-being here...

But I agree. When I first got here, I was pretty confused and lost too. But there were people who helped me out, and several of them ended up being better friends than I could've hoped for.

[She definitely hears it, and it makes her giggle a little, though she tries to stifle it.] Nice to meet you, Adell! I'm... Kaori.

[Augh why was it becoming so much more easier to give her name to complete strangers?] How long have you been here?

Nice to meet you, Kaori! I've been here... about seventeen months. How about you?

Seventeen months? Wow... I've been here for about three months, it's still taking some getting used to.

There's a lot to settle into. Plus coming in during the winter probably makes it a lot harder to get used to.

It was very cold, I can tell you that! Don't the Malnosso ever give anyone shoes when they dump them?

Nope. The jerks only give us either a pair of pants or a crappy sundress. That much hasn't changed in all the months I've been here.

Some people get lucky and find clothes nearby, but... most don't.

But I've heard that we have watch stations, now or something like that. How long has that been around?
