[Things hadn't been easy the past few weeks; there had been ups and downs, much more of the latter than she would ever admit to. And as far as she could tell, it would not get better any time soon. At the very least, the weather was beginning to change even if she couldn't see it for herself. There was just something about the air of spring approaching that always managed to lift her spirits a little, and what better way to greet it than to start working on that neglected garden outside of House 11? Who cares how cold it is out, the plants are of higher priority.

It isn't until after an hour or so of working that her journal falls off her person and sprawls open in the dirt, making her frown upon hearing the familiar noise of it being activated. Taking to people probably wasn't a good idea right now, but she can try.]

… What are your favorite things about spring? Or… things you like the least about it I guess. Anything really.

[Later in the evening the residents of the large household might notice that she's managed to make her way to Silver's room instead of her own, though if anyone drops by the reason should be pretty obvious. You don't go through weeks of emotional whiplash and a day out in the cold dressed improperly without coming out unscathed.]

I'm... fine... [Just startled, given how she's been mostly avoiding interaction for the past few weeks, y'know?]

[He takes a seat next to her in the dirt, frowning slightly as he picks up the gardening tool she dropped.] Are you feeling any better....?

[No.

But she won't say that out loud, instead opting for a small smile that would probably give her away fairly easily, if Frey knew her that well.]

[Oh, he can tell alright. That frown grows just a little, though she cannot see it.]

Anything I can do to help?

Um... [She wasn't sure of what he could do exactly, but...]

Do you have any flowers you want planted, I guess? I can try to find them in the flower shop for you.

Flowers.....?

I'm afraid I only know what Ino taught me, actually...

.....though, we might not want morning glories.

No morning glories? Mm'kay... [Not that she minds, though now she's curious about why not those in particular.]

[Hmm.... actually...

Something he'd read, once, on a whim after taking a few lessons with Ino.]

....Maybe we could plant some lilies of the valley.

Lilies of the valley...? [She has to pause for a minute, trying to remember if there was a time she may have actually come across that particular plant at some point in her life.]

Oh! I remember them, I think. They're small and white, maybe?

Yes. The flowers are like small white bells that hang down from the stem.

And they grew close to the irises back home. [Back when home was actually 'home,' a place she could go to and feel safe.]

Do you really like them, Freyjadour?

Oh? They did?

I've seen them before, back home. And I read about them once, they seemed nice.

Because of the meaning, or because they're pretty? [And now she stands up, brushing herself of the dirt that was still clinging to her clothing while turning toward Frey hopefully.]

Yeah, I guess... I didn't remember until now. Maybe because I was really little.

Both, actually. [He grins, a little sheepish.]

[... Big brother, that is adorable.] Seems like it, but... it was with my first dad, so maybe not and it was just waiting for a reason for me to try to remember.

I am glad you remembered something happy, though.

Then do you have any happy memories with flowers, Freyjadour? [She's genuinely curious, since the exact details of the place Frey grew up in were still blurry enough that she can't quite try to imagine a picture.]

... And I guess I'm glad, too. [A happy memory amidst the terrible ones was definitely a breath of fresh air.]

.... when Lymsleia was little, I used to make her flower crowns. I did so for mother, as well.

[Though... his last one for his mother was as a memorial on mothers day his first year, here.]

I made one for you, when you were small... do you remember?

[While the first few words had begun to uncurl the sadness she had been all too familiar with for the past few weeks, the question directed toward her already begins to push it away. Of course she remembered the small crown of aster flowers.]

Yeah, actually... I still have it. [Yup, she's blushing.]

You do? [He's surprised... but kind of touched, and there is a mirroring tint of red to his own cheeks in embarassment.]

I'm glad you liked it. You were so happy when I made it for you.

Well no one had ever made something like that for me before. Still hasn't... not until you. [And even now, it still made her very happy.]

I guess it made me feel really special, and it was really pretty too.

Well, you really liked the flowers, so I thought it would be a great way to give you some....

[If only he knew how much it really did mean to her. But she could at least try to repay the favour, couldn't she? Even though she had little idea about how to go about it.]

... Maybe we can go check to see if they have lily of the valley at the flower shop later? It's not time to grow them outside, but inside they'll be comfy, I think.
