[Things hadn't been easy the past few weeks; there had been ups and downs, much more of the latter than she would ever admit to. And as far as she could tell, it would not get better any time soon. At the very least, the weather was beginning to change even if she couldn't see it for herself. There was just something about the air of spring approaching that always managed to lift her spirits a little, and what better way to greet it than to start working on that neglected garden outside of House 11? Who cares how cold it is out, the plants are of higher priority.

It isn't until after an hour or so of working that her journal falls off her person and sprawls open in the dirt, making her frown upon hearing the familiar noise of it being activated. Taking to people probably wasn't a good idea right now, but she can try.]

… What are your favorite things about spring? Or… things you like the least about it I guess. Anything really.

[Later in the evening the residents of the large household might notice that she's managed to make her way to Silver's room instead of her own, though if anyone drops by the reason should be pretty obvious. You don't go through weeks of emotional whiplash and a day out in the cold dressed improperly without coming out unscathed.]

[She'll let this slide, for now given that today probably wasn't a good day to do that – she had been feeling a little faint this morning, after all.]

Since... I think it was after you left this morning. What hour is it?

....It is past noon. [Kaori it is far too cold out to be gardening this long.]

Have you had lunch? [there is concern in his tone as he says this.]

[Nonsense, it's not too cold when the health of the earth and the plants relying on it is involved. Why that concerned tone anyway?]

Um... no? I don't remember eating today?

.....Come have lunch with me?

[And get out of the cold?]

... You want to have lunch together? [But the plants!]

...Do you not want to?

That's not it. [She even shakes her head, trying to communicate that... she simply wasn't expecting it today, for whatever reason.]

I think I'd like that? ... Yeah, I think I would.

[He smiles, reaching down to offer her a hand up.] Great.

Anything you want in particular for lunch? I have no preference.

[Luckily Kaori notices him reaching his hand out, even if she can't see it and fumbles for it a little, pulling herself upward while trying to not drag Frey to meet the dirt they stood on.]

I don't really mind anything, but Zan'nen said I should eat more when I went to go see him.

[He pulls her up, frowning slightly at her words. Zan'nen was concerned over her eating....?] Have you not been eating properly?

I guess not? I haven't really been paying attention. [Given that life-long habit of not eating unless she had someone with whom she could share the meal with, and eventually the pains of hunger became so constant that she didn't notice anymore.]

.....Why? You could make yourself sick if you don't eat properly. [There's concern in his voice. How had he missed this....?]

I've never liked eating without someone there, it... doesn't feel right. It feels worse than not eating. [Now guess how long she lived alone, Frey.]

Oh.....? [He had no clue, honestly. But the fact that she hasn't been eating.....]

Would it make it easier if I ate with you more often?

... It's okay, you have other things to do, don't you? [It's the same answer she gave to all her caretakers back home, the people who were obligated to check up on her to make sure she was still alive.]

No so many things that I do not have time to come here back for lunch with you.

[Really, most of the things he did were of his own choosing, anyway. It wasn't like home.]

... You're sure? [She's... sort of managed on her own before, even if it was painfully lonely.]
