Wondering what sorts of things he should say to her. His experience with children is very, very limited. To the point of non-existence, actually.]

[Luckily for him Kaori seems to be doing fine going about in silence, still humming and looking about at their surroundings. Luceti was so different from the last time she had been here, in November.]

Yeah! [Her face brightens up considerably, thinking about how much she loves it.] I really, really like singing, my mommy and brother do, too! Mommy told me once that you can tell what someone's like because of music!

Uh-huh! Sometimes, I can hear when the hearts of other people or flowers are singing. Mommy says I might be able to hear them better when I'm older.

Of course I do! [She can't imagine not loving them, or see any reason not to.] They're my mommy and big brother, and even though Daddy is different from us I love him, too!

I know they do. [There is not even the slightest hint of doubt in her voice or in her expression to disprove it.] I know when Mommy and Daddy and my brother don't tell the truth.

And it's supposed to be our birthday soon, but it's weird here.

[It's good that there are at least some who would take a little responsibility for bringing those of mixed-blood into the world. Still...foolish, incredibly foolish to think that someone like that could lead a peaceful life anywhere...

Uh-huh! We turn six and Mommy said that our cousins will get to come over to celebrate. [And when she returns home, she will have no idea that her life will go to hell in just a few days time.]

Uh-huh, they're all a lot bigger and live kinda far, but they play with us anyway. So I don't usually feel lonely.

[They've arrived at the flower shop by now, and he pauses in front of it. He really hopes Raine isn't the one watching the shop this afternoon.]

Well... [She falls silent, chewing on her lower lip just a little as she gazes at the front of the flower shop. While she loves her family very much, there was undeniably something about her or them that makes her feel lonely sometimes.]

[Leading her into the shop now - luckily, there's no one in sight just yet. Let's keep it that way. At least he doesn't feel any presence of mana.]

Um... [She takes a quick look around first, trying to not get too excited over the vast amount of flowers before she loses control and answers Mithos' question. She lowers her voice into a whisper, a determined look in her eyes.]

Don't tell anyone, but he's a pureblood. Mommy said I'm supposed to be, too, but it's weird that I'm Le'sachi.

It's not your fault you were born that way. [The words come out immediately. Sharply, defensively, even though the person who told her that is obviously not present.]

[The sudden declaration leaves Kaori speechless, eyes wide in surprise that he would say that.]

I know it's not my fault, and Mommy and Daddy and my brother love me anyway, na? I like how I am. [Even if it meant falling ill far too frequently than would be proper for a child her age. She starts walking around tentatively, admiring all the flowers the flower shop had. She'd never seen some of these before.]

['Anyway', as if she's somehow less worthy of love because she's not a full-blooded anything. His blood boils. .....But she's young and naive and happy and he tries to keep it light, following along as she peers at the flowers.]

...That's good. [but how long until she falls into wondering what it might be like to live as something else, anything else?]

Mm! [She begins to hum again, staring at all the flowers around her with more attention than moments before. If only her mother and brother could be here to see them, she's sure they would like them, too.]

Have you ever seen so many flowers, Mithos? They're all so pretty!
