.....About Falena? Of course. You only need ask, you know. [Honestly... he took great pride in his home. He didn't mind at all, talking of it. Not so much of the things he did during the war, but he was willing to share those with her too, if she truly wanted those stories.]

What do you want to know?

A favorite thing....? I have lots of those. [He pauses, taking a bite of cake as he thinks.]

I guess... I do miss the sight of Sol-Falena. And the way the sun looks when it sets over the Feitas. It looks endless when it reflects off the water.

A river, actually. It flows throughout all of Falena.... There are few places in the country you will ever be far from it.

My hometown, Sol-Falena, is set upon a lake that is fed by it.

It is connected to the outer shore by bridges, actually. There is a large dam, and a port for boats if you choose to travel that way.

[His eyes widen a bit, and he smiles. She was smart to figure it out so easily.] You are right. It is exactly that.

Falena's original capital was Stormfist, from what I have read, but Sol-Falena was built specifically to become the current capital from the very beginning... over two hundred years ago, I think. I imagine great care was taken to make sure it was secure and difficult to invade.

Any land based invasion must cross the bridge. There is no other way, besides entering by boat.

When we had to retake the city, it was a difficult battle.

....I did. Very much so. Everyone did.

[It was what had frustrated him most, about his time in Luceti before returning home to finish everything- He had never been able to rescue Lym, to take back their home. Hearing it from people from the future was one thing.

Doing it was another.]

Ah....well....We marched towards the capital.... and.... [There's a bit of hesitance of his tone as he speaks.... as if he's considering leaving something out. He didn't want to ruin this happy moment for her with the things that had happened.]
falenandawn: (sigh)

[His eyes widen a little at the hand on his, and he squeezes it gently to let her know he's thankful for it.

He merely did not wish to. He had always been a private person when it came to these things, and he did not wish to ruin the mood. But Sialeeds... she deserved to be mentioned, in spite of his feelings on it.

History would probably label her a traitor, but when he spoke of these events, at least..... He would remember her.]
My Aunt perished in the events leading up to our retaking of the capital. She is the reason we even have the opportunity we do, to make a lasting change in our country.
falenandawn: (Well...)

[personal profile] falenandawn 2012-05-24 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
I do. She... really cared for us all. [If he was going to be honest with himself, she was more like immediate family then just an aunt. She had always been in his life... teasing them, taking care of them, teaching them... She had been almost, if not as much as, important a person in he and his sister's lives as their parents.] ....It might have been the reason she did what she did was for our sake. She knew better then we did the obstacles we could face in the future.

[There's a pang of guilt accompanying that question.

Really... he shouldn't be ruining a happy occasion like this. But telling her to change the topic now would imply he didn't trust her, wouldn't it?]
I cannot. Publicly, she is viewed as a traitor. She could not even be buried in the royal tombs.

The most we can do is use the chance she gave us.

I am sorry... this is not exactly happy conversation, is it?
