[With a frustrated sigh, Kaori abandons the poor attempt at communication by scratching the surface of the pen across the whole page, eventually ripping it out. It was stupid to think that just because she was able to write perfectly fine a week ago, she would be able to for a while now that she was back to normal. Things didn't work that way.

So much for trying to be anonymous about this and avoiding talking to people more than she has to, but she still wanted answers to her question anyway. Pausing for a deep breath, she dives right in.]

Is anyone out there lucky enough to have their brother or sister here?

[.....She's back. She's back to being herself, with her memories, and-- For the first time in a long while, something like relief pours into him, hiding all the ugly emotions underneath. For just a little.]

[That question, though... It digs through him and leaves empty spaces all over again. He isn't going to answer, because he doesn't like what his says. Instead...] Kaori, I-

[words...what are those again?] ...Can I come see you? [with a very obvious please implied there]

I wouldn't call it lucky.

[And for one like Leonhardt, that question couldn't have been much more painful than driving a knife into him. Oh yeah, he was quite lucky to have his little brother here, but unlucky in that his little brother doesn't know him any longer.

He hadn't intended on answering this or even listening to the replies, but in his slight pause before closing the journal his kitten jumped up into his lap and turned on the recording device.

Kaori can hear a kitten's meow before a man's voice comes over the journal after he removes the little black kitten from his lap.]

My apologies, miss. It would appear that my kitten wished to answer that she misses her brothers and sisters even if they are not so far away.

[Now to hope he wouldn't be pressed for an answer himself, but he's already thinking ahead to what to do if he is.]

[Frey makes note of the question, but doesn't bother answering. Kaori knows the answer to it, anyway.

Moreso, he's wondering how she's been doing.]

You've been doing ok, I hope? I haven't seen you since you left....

[The same relief washes over Kaori when Mithos is the first to speak, even if he's not answering her question. For good reason, she remembers.]

... Please! [She misses him so much, and it's hard to try to hold back the amount of emotions she has about finally being able to be with him again, rather than as a little girl who has no idea of the pain they share.]

And why not? [Elaborate, sir.]

Building four, right? [in lieu of asking if she's home - because what does "home" even mean for those born to be despised? Such a place does not exist.] I'll be there soon.

[She begins to nod, but then remembers that he needed more confirmation than that. So she makes a small noise to signify that she was still there, alone in an apartment that seemed so big now.]

[And within ten minutes, there will be a knock on the door. He half ran here, desperate to see her and feel like he isn't alone in the world. He doesn't even remember how he lasted for 4000 years with nobody by his side but memories. Although, the simple answer is he didn't last: most of him withered away.]

Oh? [The kitten itself is distracting enough that she delays interrogating him, but if she manages to keep him around long enough she'll get around to it.]

Is she one of those kittens showing up everywhere?

[The door is pulled open immediately, since Kaori had been leaning right against it while waiting for Mithos to arrive. There's no preamble to her rushing forward to wrap her arms around him and hold him tightly, shivering from the amount of emotions she is experiencing now that he's actually with her.

They didn't have to be alone right now, with each other.]

[The very reason she asked this question in the first place, it would be a lie for Kaori to say she wasn't expecting him to answer. And she hadn't exactly spoken him since that morning she woke up to darkness, sending her into a brief terrified frenzy that no matter what she did, she couldn't escape it...]

I dunno...

....If you want, you can always come back, you know. [There's worry in his voice. He'd been concerned about that very same thing and how she would deal with it.]

[A small smile of affection manages to make it's way to her lips, able to sense his concern and honesty. But that house was crowded enough as it was, and despite living with them for little over a month, Kaori didn't know them well enough to be comfortable.]

Isn't that place full enough already...? I think I'd get lost there.

And...it's one of the rare moments where he fully realizes just how selfish he is. Because as much as he cares about her, as much as he doesn't want to see her get hurt, he wouldn't undo everything that had been done to her throughout her life. If he had the choice to go back and somehow make her life better, he wouldn't. She wouldn't be her, the friend he needs.] I'm so happy you're here...

[That question serves as a dull, pained reminder of Naoya's departure. His...family in more than one way.]

...Nope. They're back home.

[ There's a slight pause before Ange speaks up, but when she does her voice sounds rather bitter, and it's easy to notice. ]

I did for a little while, but this place seemed it fit to take him away again only a little bit later.

[She can interrogate as much as she wishes, he has already thought up an answer that can be stated in public despite his orders to not let on that he knows his brother.]

She is. She was part of a litter of 13 kittens as far as I understand, quite the family there. She definitely has many siblings here.

I am, too... [Though Mithos' selfish thoughts right now would bother her some, she wouldn't blame him one bit for them. They needed each other, after all, and they were the only ones who understood that.]

I'm sorry I was gone...!

How lucky for her, then. Really. She doesn't have to feel alone here with them around.

At least that person is waiting for you back there, right? Even if they can't be here?

For her, that would be the case. But then one could say she is lucky for being a cat too since she won't be subjected to the experiments like we would.

No. I'm never that lucky. [His voice sounds a bit husky, as if maybe he's holding back a bit too much. He shouldn't be awake at this hour.]
