[With a frustrated sigh, Kaori abandons the poor attempt at communication by scratching the surface of the pen across the whole page, eventually ripping it out. It was stupid to think that just because she was able to write perfectly fine a week ago, she would be able to for a while now that she was back to normal. Things didn't work that way.

So much for trying to be anonymous about this and avoiding talking to people more than she has to, but she still wanted answers to her question anyway. Pausing for a deep breath, she dives right in.]

Is anyone out there lucky enough to have their brother or sister here?

[The very reason she asked this question in the first place, it would be a lie for Kaori to say she wasn't expecting him to answer. And she hadn't exactly spoken him since that morning she woke up to darkness, sending her into a brief terrified frenzy that no matter what she did, she couldn't escape it...]

....If you want, you can always come back, you know. [There's worry in his voice. He'd been concerned about that very same thing and how she would deal with it.]

[A small smile of affection manages to make it's way to her lips, able to sense his concern and honesty. But that house was crowded enough as it was, and despite living with them for little over a month, Kaori didn't know them well enough to be comfortable.]

Isn't that place full enough already...? I think I'd get lost there.

Oh..... [A little disappointed, but he kind of understands. There are a good half dozen monster trainers and their 'pokemon' in the house, afterall.....]

........I'm glad. I really hoped you did. [Because she had never said it before, at her real age. So such a confirmation..... It meant a lot.]

... That makes me happy... E'thaji... [It felt a little strange to say that out loud now that she was her real age. While she had thought it, she had never had any intention about telling Frey how highly she thought of him before their talk not so long ago. The little girl of then and the person she is now are very different from each other, after all.]

So... how have you been?

I'm happy, too. [To hear her call him 'brother' again makes him even happier.]

I've been ok. The village has been peaceful so far this month. [Though, thinking about last year........ The next question is said with worry clear in his tone.]

...Are you sure you don't want to stay at the house? I mean.....

[If people start hallucinating again and getting their wings plucked he didn't want Kaori to be alone.]

[She hears the worry in his voice perfectly clear, even without her usual ability to pick up on the emotions of others easily. Her brow furrows and she shifts around uncomfortably, wondering just what had Frey so bothered.]

The village has been calm so far this month, but 'Halloween' is coming up.

It's a sort of holiday in some worlds, but the Malnosso.... twist it.

Last time was like living in a nightmare.

Halloween? [It was something she had heard about in passing, though she only had a vague idea of what it was all about.]

What do the Malnosso do to celebrate it...?

Well... Last year we were forced into costumes, and the village changed. Carved Pumpkins and decorations were all over the village, and the nights got foggy.

People started seeing and hearing things, Hallucinating. Like living nightmares, there a moment, gone the next. By the end of the week, some people were near crippled by all the horrible things they saw.

...I saw my mother covered in blood.

[... If she weren't already expecting Mithos to drop by at any minute now, Kaori would be well on her way to where Frey is. But right now all she can do is sit there and listen, imagining what that must be like. She was fortunate enough to not remember many of the deaths that so impacted her for the time being, but she was still left with the memory of the day she and her brother had been taken away from their mother.

The memory of a Human emptying a magazine of bullets into Kanoke as she attempted to shield her children from their sight.]

[He's trying not to focus on the memories, more worried about Kaori being subjected to such a thing.] I don't want you to be alone if something like that happens again. It's bad enough when you have someone with you- My mother was alive and well in Luceti at the time.

But letting you be alone during that? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

[Frey had had his mother here, a year ago? She almost, no, does feel jealous of him for that. Having someone you actually know here with you... She wanted it, too.

But this wasn't what they were focusing on right now. Even though she knows he cares for her, it still felt so strange to hear such concern from Frey. Accepting that some Humans really were kind was still an ongoing process.] Youre worried about me...?

[Frey would be the first to admit the chance Luceti had given to him to see her again was something he was deeply grateful for. He knew the chance to see a dead loved one was something rare, even in Luceti.]

I'm... just not used to it, I guess! Kinda stupid, huh? [She laughs a little nervously, mulling the idea over in her mind. If she got worried over him it would make sense for him to become worried over her, right? He's just trying to be nice, a good big brother...]

.....It's not stupid at all, given what you told me, I guess. [He understands. But he is worried.]

If you really don't want to stay, though, as I said, I do understand.

.... I didn't stay I didn't want to stay... [Simply speaking to Frey was enough to make her feel safe and warm, enough to calm her down with the right words. Which he seems to have a talent for. And there weren't as many people living in this building as there were before, not as many that she knew...]

[her words were quiet, but Frey hears them loud and clear.] You're always welcome to come stay with me, Kaori. Big or small, it matters not.

It doesn't? [There's a faint hint of hope in her voice, almost as though she were waiting him to confirm it further.]

Of course it doesn't. You're still yourself, just taller and a tad less prone to wild goose chases through town. [Laughing a bit at that.] At least I hope so.

You think so? Maybe Mister Calvin would say something different if you asked him. She manages a small laugh of her own, maybe Frey should try sharing stories with Vash and Wolfwood about dealing with her sometime.]
