[It's been some time since everyone returned from the battle, only to find out that the village had been damaged greatly once they were back. Kaori hadn't been able to tell right away until she began to feel unexpectedly tired, and no matter where she went it felt wet. It was only then that she realized the extent of the storm people had talked about.

It meant that there was a lot of damage control to be done, but she's not thinking buildings. What mattered to her was what the plants and flower beds throughout the village had suffered. Thanks to the efforts of her housemates her own garden had been mostly unscathed, but that didn't stop her from mourning what had been died. So she'd finally had enough of seeing them that way. Today was going to be dedicated to replanting what seedlings she'd found in the flower shop and sowing new seeds throughout the village. It didn't matter where, she just didn't want for there to be a lack of one of the few things that made this place remotely like home.

Eventually she does address the village at large, though her voice is rather solemn.]

I know that there's supposed to be a Memory Garden for the village... Can someone tell me what's going on with it? I'd kind of like to plant something there if it's okay to.

[Daisies. She'd already given them their place in House 11's garden, but with the memory of the person they were dedicated to, Kaori felt it best to scatter them as far as she could. Selphie had always seemed like such a free spirit, after all.]

A friend of Freyjadour's? She left a while ago, after everything that happened here in the village. [He'd definitely taken it terribly, subdued as he had been. Kaori didn't think he was fooling anyone, but that was just her opinion.]

... What about you, Mithos?

[While he can halfway accept, or at least concede, that she cares about Freyjadour, he's surprised that she would bother to do this for one of his friends.] Oh...

[But before he can form the questions - Why? Weren't you ever jealous of her? - she shifts the subject.] You mean for Martel? Something in her memory... I don't know. [~~It's not like he can top the time he made the entire world worship her as a deity.~~]

The garden I was planting for her was likely destroyed in that storm. [He can't be certain - he's been at Sayo's the entire time since.] ...It doesn't matter anymore anyway. She won't come back in time to be able to see it. At least, I don't think she will.

But Mithos... [There's a hint of a plea when she calls out his name. She knows it could be for nothing, but to hear him disregard it like that wasn't sitting well with her at all.]

Isn't that... isn't that what you said last time she left? But she came back anyway. [It hurt to hope, and she knows she could be cruel by suggesting it, but she didn't want for Mithos to not do anything and regret it later. It hurt so much worse afterward.]

She'll come back...she has to. [Letting go of the hope that she would return, accepting that he might never see her again...it's terrifying. He can't do it. That thin hope is what keeps him going.] But how long will I have to wait? Last time it was only a few months, but years could pass before I can see her again.

I've spent my whole life waiting for my sister to come back to me.

I... [She didn't have an answer, even though she would love to be able to provide one. It was beyond cruelty, what those scientists did to him by taking his sister so soon after she had returned, only for her to leave the world again before Mithos even had the opportunity to have the time he deserved to have with her. She couldn't give him words of comfort, because everyone who had been taken away from her had remained gone forever. Second chances were a luxury she never had. Or a sadness, as the situation was making it.]

Where are you?

The apartment... [Like always. A pause as he anticipates her intent, wanting to see her so badly.]

Do you remember how to get here? [Freyjadour had brought her along a few times when he came to check in on him, but he knows that it will be a lot trickier for her to walk here by herself.]

I think I do. [And even if she didn't, that wouldn't stop her from trying to find him anyway. Even if she had to check every apartment building herself until she did find him, though it was lucky that the apartment she knew him to be at was on the first floor.]

I'll be there as soon as I can, 'kay?

I'll wait for you. [He doesn't even try to disguise the pleading note his words carry. He'll go to sit in the living room, eyes and ears tuned in to the door.]

[Even if she had had any idea of where she was, it still would have taken too long to reach Mithos in Kaori's mind. The amount of time it does take may as well be all day in her mind, even if it had been an hour at most when she finally reaches the apartment and knocks tentatively on the door, praying that it was the right one.]

Hello...?

[He stands immediately, quickly crossing the distance between him and the door. When he pulls it open, he doesn't wait any longer to pull her into a tight hug. He hasn't had the chance to be alone with her in a while - it isn't the same with Freyjadour hovering nearby.]

[The hug was completely unexpected, forcing her to almost go rigid in surprise while her mind fought between the two forces that were her natural flight instincts, and the dawning that the person holding on so tightly was Mithos. But it only made sense that the latter would win out as the aura of sadness, and what she thought was loneliness began to overtake her. She'd noticed it before the other times she had come to visit, but he probably held back or it was harder to because there were other people there...

There's no avoiding holding him back just as tightly, burying her face in his shoulder as she squeezed her eyes shut. Mithos had needed her, and she had taken too long to fulfill that request as she tries to will some of that sadness into herself. To ease his burden.]

[He doesn't let go. He needs this. Sometimes, after spending too many hours alone, he thinks that all he can cling to is thoughts of Martel. He needs to be reminded that his arms can hold her, and her arms can surround him in return.]

You're here... [She's still here. She's with him. He isn't alone.]

... I'm here. [Her hold softens in a sense, but the amount of comfort she's trying to convey doesn't lessen in the slightest. She'll stand here as long as he needs it, it doesn't even occur to her that this could be seen as awkward or in a sense forward depending on the person. There was a part of her that needed this, too.

So she starts to hum softly, almost to the point that it couldn't be heard given she did it so rarely because of the likelihood of pain later on. But that pain later would be worth it if she could help him somehow.]

[He can hear it clearly; it's loud enough that he knows it's just for him. He closes his eyes and focuses on her soft notes. The tune isn't one he's familiar with, but right now it's as comforting as any of Martel's songs.]

[But she can't hold up the tune forever, and after some time of holding him and running her fingers through his hair soothingly she has to stop, trying to hold back a cough. There's an apologetic look on her face when she has to pull back, mingled in with the worry she felt for him.

Why did they have to lock him away and keep them separated...?]

[Locked away without the lock. Doors that lock only from the inside are impractical for imprisonment, but he has little desire to leave the apartment. Sayo takes care of him, and now Kaori can visit him. Should he leave, he risks being caught by any one of the people keeping surveillance over him, and he lacks a weapon.

He only pulls back when she does, taking a moment to take her in.]

Thank you. [He takes a step backwards to gently lead her through the door, making sure it shuts behind them.] It means a lot...just to know I have you.

And it means a lot to me, too. [She'd said it before, but to be reassured of the value she had in his life filled her with warmth every time, to the point that she smiles again just for him.]

No one else is here, right? Just us?

[He thinks he can smile if it's for her, and he does so weakly.] Just us. Sayo is at work, and nobody should be by to check on me for a little while.

[He lets go of her, only to take her hand and begin leading her to the couch.]

I guess that's good. [It really was more difficult to feel truly at ease when others were around, and knowing how Mithos had been treated as all but a prisoner didn't sit very well with her. Still, she allows herself to be led along, trusting him absolutely for the time being while leaning against him.]

Is there... something you want to do? Or do you just want to stay together? [It was all okay with her, if she got to spend time with him.]

It doesn't matter to me, as long as I can spend time with you. [He sits down on the couch, not letting go of her hand. Just being beside her, feeling the weight of her hand in his, hearing her voice - it's enough.]

... Okay. [If something came to mind she would mention it, but the silence was just as fine. She could feel that he was right beside her anyway as she shyly moves to sit next to him, leaning against his side once again and closing her eyes to better tune in to his distinct presence.]

[He'll enjoy her in silence for a few stretched-out moments, liking how their shoulders touch, before he thinks of something.] ...Could you touch my hair some more? It feels...nice. [How many times had his sister done the same to comfort him, to reassure him that she was there and it would be okay?]

[It was an unexpected request certainly, and maybe just a bit unusual, but the look of surprise that had overtaken Kaori's face soon turns into a soft smile, a hint of a blush on her cheeks even. She wouldn't mind it in the least.]

If you could lay down in my lap? I think it'd be easier for both of us then. [Since accidentally poking him in the eye was not something she wanted to risk.]

Of course... [He shifts to lay sideways on the couch, with his head resting in Kaori's lap. He wishes he could lay on his back to look up at her, but his wings won't allow it. His cheeks are warm with color, and he has to wonder why this feels different from the times he's done the same with Martel.]
